Horde Magic

I don't know if you guys saw this already, but it looked like a cool alternative format to try out. I was thinking of creating a deck for it, if you all would be interested in playing it. Whaddayathink?

  1. This looks like it could be fun. I'd be interested in playing. You should totally build a deck for it so we can try it out over Xmas break.

  2. A new format?

Another format where Twizzle and I can get angry and curse at you for always flipping over the right cards at the right time, sign me up!

J/K, j/k guys. I'll dial back the sarcasm. I had heard of the format and it does seem interesting. Similar to our approach to archenemy, I'll let you build the deck(s). I did have a question though, can you use any on theme tribal tokens, or do they need to be 1/1 and/or 2/2s? I'm just wondering about the potential for abuse.

PS - I may be late to the party, but I find the above gif, which I only discovered yesterday, really damn funny. I find myself just watching it for hours. If it's old news, then forgive me, as I am a bit of a recluse.

  3. First off, animated gifs of any kind will never go out of style. Just look at the timeless nature of the SPD website for a classic example. Omar Scratching!!!

I guess I was assuming the on theme tribal tokens needed to be 2/2 since I am building a zombie deck and most of the zombie tokens are 2/2s. I wanted to try out the zombie deck first because it seems the most flavorful. It will be mostly like the zombie deck in the article with a few tweaks.

Also, yes this part of my master plan to use telepathy to control magic cards in all formats. I have two shinning shoals and a chub toad in my pants right now.

  4. I was reading some more on the Horde format when I realized that you don't really need anyone to pilot the enemy deck, so there's no person (as antagonist) to hate on. Was that how you were planning on playing, or did you want to make use of all your chub toads and shinning shoals?

  5. As much as I want to build a deck of nothing but Shining Shoals and Chub Toads, I was planning on playing the regular way the rules state. We have never played a format were everyone playing is on a team together and it sounds like fun to me.
