Karametra

So here is Karametra done in a cursive OB style based on cylinder seal art. Hope you like it. Expect Phil's next weekend, and Tommy's the weekend after that. Once we have them all done, we'll send them to your parents' house and you can pick them up when next you arrive there. As usual, I am responsible for translation, the cuneiform text, and finding artistic parallels. Veronica is responsible for rendering the art on clay. Let us know what you think.

  1. Wow. This throne with the serpent is totally badass. And Karametra looks like he is about to hook some fool who just stole one of his favorite goats! I love it and I'm looking forward to what you come up with the mimeoplasm.

  2. We took most of thematic cues from the card art. http://media.wizards.com/images/magic/daily/wallpapers/Karametra,-God-of-Harvests_BNG_2560x1600_Wallpaper.jpg

It does look like she's holding a hook, but it was supposed to be the scythe she's holding in the original art. A lot of scythe depictions in cylinder seal art, if we are correctly identifying them, look like hooks. The serpent is the wurm-like (?) creature at her feet. And the pot behind her is a reference to the pots pouring out vines on her throne.

As for the Mimeoplasm, I've got a sketch worked out that I'm happy with. So hopefully that will turn out well.
